Paw Cleaning Breakthrough

The new dry-clean formula lifts dirt and mud and disinfects paws in seconds – without water, towels and mess

My groomer showed me something really exciting.

And if your dog lives indoors, you might get excited as well. The thing is…

Every time I take my three Golden Retrievers for a walk, I sign up for a scrubbing session.

Whether it's mopping the puddles of water after rinsing their paws... or cleaning muddy traces off the floors and carpets… it's a never-ending mess.

And it's not just me.

“...puddles of mud and dirt everywhere!”

Max, my neighbor's Labrador, loves digging. He doesn't have to leave his garden to get knee-deep in dirt. My neighbour has to keep a water hose at hand all year long.

Wrestling every time we need to clean the paws...

And my favorite story is my friend Natie, who lives by the Santa Monica beach with her Beagle Lisa.

They live an active lifestyle, so they often go for a walk a few times a day. Or grab a drink by the sea. That's a lot of paw cleaning.

She has to keep a pile of wet and dry towels and a bucket of water in front of the door. To fight all that sand.

But still, Lisa smuggles sand inside the house every single time. Natie complains that soon she'll have a beach inside her house. They're hilarious!

For all of us, rinsing is not only a chore – but there's also something not many people know about that I've just discovered recently:

A hidden danger of water cleaning

A few months ago, I took my girls to a groomer. I usually trim their hair myself, but this time I wanted to give them a professional treatment.

The groomer, Joana, was stylizing them one by one. As the last one – my youngest, Daisy – approached, she blurted out:

"Have you noticed they all have cracked pads?"

"Yeah, I've been using wax before sleep to regenerate them."

"That's okay, it helps pads recover. But how do you treat their paws in general?"

"After a walk, I usually use a rinsing cup – or wipes if not too dirty. Otherwise, we take a bath. And wax at night."

She gave a judging look.

"The cup only cleans the surface…"

Joana went on explaining how much dirt stays between the tight crevices between the pads. That's where infections could develop, especially if it is humid after rinsing and washing.

"And most wipes contain alcohol – which strips the natural oils from the pads over time. The more you use them, the more the pads dry out and crack."

It was getting overwhelming, so I snapped back:

"So… what should I use?"

She reached under her station and placed it on the counter.

PetPaw Clean + Disinfect Foam

“A Rinse-Free Formula”

She placed something that reminded me of a deodorant.

It was a foam cleanser with a soft silicone brush built directly into the cap.

"No water required," she said. "You pump the foam onto the brush, work it between the pads in circular motions, and give it a gentle wipe. That's it."

According to the label:

The foam is specifically designed to penetrate the hard-to-reach crevices between the pads – the places a silicone cup can't reach. It lifts dirt, mud, sand and debris from every corner of the paw. Not just the surface. Everything.

And while it's cleaning, it's also disinfecting – eliminating the bacteria, pesticides and chemicals dogs pick up on walks – so they don’t bring it all over the furniture and sheets.

But what I care about the most:

No harsh chemicals. Just plant-based ingredients gentle enough that even if your dog licks their paws straight after… which they will… there's nothing to worry about.

So I decided to give it a try.

The first shaky impression

At first, I was a bit unsure if foam could actually clean dirt and mud. And most importantly, how my girls would react — because they often lick their paws right after walks.

But after several walks, I was amazed at how easy it was. I'd pump the foam onto the brush, work it between the pads in circular motions, and just wipe dry with a towel.

And the amount of dirt that came out — I've never seen that much when rinsing with only water. (And I must admit, satisfying to watch all that black gunk leaving the paw and turning clean.)

As we stopped using water every day, their pads became smoother and softer. The cracks started to heal. The rough texture the wax could never fix was finally going away on its own.

It worked. So I decided to make a small experiment.

The Experiment

Max was playing in the garden, digging as always.

So I challenged neighbor Dave to try this new thing. He didn't seem convinced, but I'm his favorite neighbor so he took the challenge.

"Max, come!"

He turned him on his back, took his muddy paw, and applied the foam.

As he started spinning the bristles, dirt started pouring out. Thirty seconds later, his mud-covered paw looked spotless and smooth.

"Wow, that's something!"

Indeed it is. So I sent another bottle to Natie. She'd already tried the silicone cup, special wipes, even a dedicated paw washing mat.

“Nothing removes sand…”

At least that’s what she said when the parcel arrived.

Two days later, she calls me thrilled. Lisa's paws were finally clean between the pads – and because there's no water involved, the sand lifts out dry instead of turning into a paste.

One bottle replaces buckets, towels, washing cups and "puddle hassles"

The bucket by the door is gone. The washing cup is gone. The stack of wet towels is gone.

Now I only keep this small bottle and a dry towel. That's the entire setup now.

I keep PetPaw right beside the front door so we can do our quick cleaning routine after getting back home. It's a relief that I don't have to fight paws into tiny rinsing cups.

Now I give them a quick paw brush and send them in.

And I can sit on my sofa without wondering what my dogs dragged in — from mud to pesticides. All of it stays out of the door now.

Life's much simpler now.

And most importantly -- it's completely safe for pets

It's made of natural and safe ingredients, such as lemon and coconut oil, gentian root extract and glycerin. This special formulation ensures clean paws with no harm to their health. The formula is made with dogs in mind, so it's completely safe for them to lick it.

This is something I paid close attention to, watching my girls' behavior after cleaning their paws.

They didn't seem bothered. And not only that, but they stopped licking their paws. I assume it's because their pads healed – there were no more cracks after a few weeks.
