A hidden danger of water cleaning
A few months ago, I took my girls to a groomer. I usually trim their hair myself, but this time I wanted to give them a professional treatment.
The groomer, Joana, was stylizing them one by one. As the last one – my youngest, Daisy – approached, she blurted out:
"Have you noticed they all have cracked pads?"
"Yeah, I've been using wax before sleep to regenerate them."
"That's okay, it helps pads recover. But how do you treat their paws in general?"
"After a walk, I usually use a rinsing cup – or wipes if not too dirty. Otherwise, we take a bath. And wax at night."
She gave a judging look.

Joana went on explaining how much dirt stays between the tight crevices between the pads. That's where infections could develop, especially if it is humid after rinsing and washing.

The first shaky impression
